People often ask, "What does 3G mean?"
Everyone who asks has a unique interpretation.
Some say it has to do with 3rd. Generation Wireless, (which is the Cellular Phone definition for 3G- but no relation), or Gordon, Georgia, and Great web sites. Or perhaps Great Ideas, Great Style, Great Service. Or 3G with 3 corners logo- 3 great things. A trinity.
These are good answers, and part of it, but not the true meaning.
Basically, the "3G" is a personal reminder to keep this business, and everything else, for that matter, God-centered. Remember to Give thanks to God
for all of our blessings, gifts and abilities. When times are tough, and situations seem overwhelming, think of this: "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."
Back in the '80's, a Christian rock band Stryper gained a lot of attention in the mainstream rock industry despite religious lyrics. They provided inspiring messages skillfully woven in their powerful music. One favorite is More than a Man
which inspires one to be less self-centered. "With Jesus in your heart, it's time for you to start...Giving God the Glory..."
"Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have." 1 Peter 3:15
If you are curious about religion and God and want to know more...
First, the basics. from the NIV Bible:
Who is God? "I form the light and create darkness. I make peace and create evil. I the Lord do all these." (Isaiah 45:7 KJV). "Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; his greatness no one can fathom." Psalms 145:3
The concept of God is confusing and hard to understand. Simply believe! God is in three forms: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. You can't see Him, but you can feel His presece just as you can't see wind, but you can feel it sweeping over you and see the effects on things the wind touches.
God created mankind in his image. By letting us do what we want to (having free will),
we tend to depend on ourselves and do things our way and eventually forget about God. When this happens, people get corrupt and evil dominates our lives. God does not like this behavior at all.
In the beginning, people were so corrupt that He said enough is enough and destroyed everyone (except a righteous man named Noah, his wife, their sons and their son's families, and two of every kind of animal), by flooding the earth.
They built a huge floating vessel called an ark and after completion, Noah's family and the animals piled up inside.
The rains came down. And down, and down, for 40 days and nights.
The waters covered the highest mountains. The rain stopped. The water gradually receded enough for the ark to rest on top of the mountains of Ararat, which is in present-day Turkey. God promised not to destroy the world again with water.
Imagine so much water that it took eight months of receding before Noah and crew could step on dry land!
Hundreds of years pass and people have multiplied over the earth. Once again people have returned to their wicked ways. God was not pleased at all and destroyed entire cities (Sodom, Gomorrah- Genesis 19) with fire of burning sulpher.
God has awesome power beyond imagination. Can you imagine creating the complexity of living things such as animals, people, plants etc. Amazing! But He is also very loving and patient and cares for us to do what is right and His will.
Does God really love me? "Neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God." Romans 8:39
He knows all about you. He has always existed before time was recorded. He knew you before you were born. He knows the number of hairs on your head (some heads may be easier to count than others) and the number of grains of sand on earth. He knows what you are thinking before you even think it!
He is pleased when we turn to Him, talk to Him and include Him in our daily routines, actions, and special events. God is a jealous God. Our full attention on Him pleases Him the most.
What is faith and where do I get more faith? The American Heritage Dictionary defines faith as "A confident belief in the truth, value, or trustworthiness of a person, idea, or thing.
Belief that does not rest on logical proof or material evidence." "...faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ." Romans 10:17
Believe that Jesus died for our sins, rose from the dead three days after, and will return to destroy evil and create Heaven on earth. No one but God knows when that time will come. But it will come "like a thief in the night," when we least expect it. So like the Boy Scouts say, be prepared!
Jesus said, "I am the truth, I am the life, I am the ressurection and the light. All who seek God's grace must follow me."
The Apostle Paul said in his letters to the Romans that "all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."(Romans 3:23) We are all born a sinner.
Instead of having us sacrifice a perfect lamb as an act of faith practiced in Biblical times, God sacrificed his Son on the cross so that we may seek Him through faith in Jesus Christ.
"Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners,
Christ died for us." (Romans 5:6-8)
When we admit we are sinful and ask Jesus to forgive us and come into our hearts, Jesus will answer through the Holy Spirit and dwell with us forever.
How do I get to Heaven? Romans 10:9-13 says "That if you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord', and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead,
you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it it with your mouth that you confess and are saved. As the Scripture says, 'Anyone
who trusts in Him will never be put to shame'. For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile-the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on Him, for
'Everyone who calles on the name of the Lord will be saved.' "
You can't go to Heaven by only doing good deeds. Paul said in Ephesians 2:8-9, "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith- and this not from yourselves, it is the
gift of God- not by works, so that no one can boast.
Not to say once we are saved we can sit back and wait. God wants us to do good works in His name. Help others know about Him so they may have eternal life after their worldly bodies perish.
Verse 10 says, "For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."
"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind; and love your neighbor as yourself." Luke 10-27
I hope this information is helpful to you. There is so much to learn from the Bible. A lot of it is hard to understand. Read study guides with explanations of terms and ideas. Anything to make the info more clear.
Recommended reading is the entire "Left Behind" series. Though the series present-day characters are fiction, the story is accurately based on Scriptures (especially Revelation) and gives an eerie account of what could happen when Jesus returns. Gripping stuff. Very inspirational!
I am no expert on religion, but I do have faith and want to share. If you have any comments or questions, send me a note. I will be glad to reply.
